Maria
Liapi, studied Business Administration at the University of Athens and received
a Honours degree in Sociology from the South Bank Polytechnic of London.
She has carried out a number of sociological research projects on educational
and urban development problems in underpriviledged areas of the metropolitan
region of Attika. In the framework of the Centre for Research on Women’s
Issues (founding member) she was responsible for research carried out on
the implementation of equality policies through vocational training. Designing,
coordinating and leading several transnational researches, studies and projects
in the context of the European Programmes/Initiatives NOW, HORIZON, SOCIAL
EXCLUSION, FORCE, ADAPT, TSER and LEONARDO.
Maria Liapi has worked on the issues of gender equality (in European small
enterprises), accomplished at pioneer work on the processes of establishment
and support of women´s cooperatives as well as enterprises, aiming
at becoming independent from public support. In this framework, she has
given lectures on equality issues and developed curricula in relation to
the development of skills needed in the women´s cooperatives. Her
publications refer to small enterpreneurship, Counceling methods, evaluation
methods and self-employment of women.
In the last year she is engaged with an EQUAL project referring to the Development
of a National Quality System for delivering Support and Social Integration
Services targeted to social groups threated by social exclusion. |
